— Canon EOS-1D C

Canon have just announced the EOS-1D C – a variant of the 1D X which has the ability to capture video in 4K (4,096 x 2,160 px), four times as many pixels as 1080p. The camera, which will launch some time this year, has a full-frame CMOS sensor and shoots at 24 fps, but if you lower the quality back down to 1080p it can shoot at 60 fps.Unfortunately, all this comes at a price, a price of $15,000 – $8,200 more than the 1D X. The current problem here is that many people, even professionals, won’t have a display with a high enough resolution to display the full quality captures from this camera. To combat this, Canon also unveiled a prototype 30″ 4K monitor for industrial application – no price has been given to this yet.
