For almost two years, The English Group’s founder, Marc Carter, was engaged as Project Director for a programme to relaunch one of Paris’s longest established printers and producers of luxury bespoke personal stationery.
With retail premises on Blvd Hausmann and artisan or atelier printershops spread across the city, our mission – ultimately culminating in a second retail space opening in Mayfair, London – was to re-establish the business as printer of choice for some of Europes oldest and wealthiest families and to develop a range of luxury stationery products entirely appropriate to this audience.
On the very first day in the Paris boutique, Marc had the pleasure of sitting with Karl Lagerfeld to discuss the printing of his own personal stationery and other early days commissions saw Armorial printing blank menu cards for the Rothschild family from hand engraved plates that had been in the family for over 200 years.
The images below are snapshots of newly printed invitations arriving for a society wedding in Morocco. The cards were first printed using the die-stamping process (from engraved plates) and then exquistely lasercut to two separate patterns. The invites were eventually mailed to guests housed within a bespoke folder. All design and artwork was created by The English Group.
