Over a period of almost two years, there were very few days that the three volume lifetime retrospective of Sir Don McCullin’s photography was not on press at our printers, Opal Print Limited, in Somerset.

Whilst The English group oversaw the printing of every single sheet, there were many days that Don himself was on press too to approve, or to in some way influence, the printer’s output. As unbelievable it might seem now, in retrospect, to give so much of the agency’s time to a single project, it is also the case that the experience has gifted us all with many fond memories and experiences that will prove invaluable whenever we next engage with another large scale publishing venture of this type.

So, it is with great affection that we retrieve this selection of images of Don on press, that were photographed at Opal Print as the project progressed.
