Having defined the specification for all invitations for internal events at Claridge’s and other Maybourne Group hotels – 2000 micron card, gloss photography on one side and heavily debossed gloss foil-blocked text to the reverse – The English Group has always managed to find some way to have fun with the final design.

As with all invitations in this series, this oversize invitation was required to take ownership of the space on prospective guests desk or mantelpiece, alongside all the other invitation that this list is likely to receive every week.

For this iteration of these invitations, with its North African/Middle Eastern theme, we used an uncoated/matt sand coloured embossed G.F. Smith Colorplan card for the reverse – to contrast with the glossy photograph on the invitation’s front side – with suitably ornate typography for the title text which was heavily debossed into the card using metallic gold foil-blocking. …the rest of the type detail was gloss white foil-blocked text.
